The Family Integrated Church is not really a “new” church model. In fact, its rooted in both the Old and New Testaments. I have a great burden for the family. I have not always had a biblical world-view. I have often looked at life issues through the glasses of secularism rather than through the Bible. Most of us do this but we don’t realize it, I didn’t.
For many years I have not had a biblical world-view. I viewed children through the eyes of the world thinking that only two at the most but now I see they are a blessing according to Psalms 127. I also viewed ministry in this light not realizing that my methods were secular based. Trying to reach as many as I could through as many programs as I could start.
A family integrated church does not single itself out as the perfect church, it is not. However, it stems to remove from its nature the failing ministry programs that many churches continue to produce even as they fail. It focuses on the family and family ministry.
Let me share a few highlights about the FIC:
- No traditional Sunday School
- No traditional youth ministry
- Not program driven or activity laden
- Focuses on the family unit for worship and ministry (note: a family maybe a single mom, divorced, widowed, grandparents or a couple with only a few or no children)
- Household ministry approach – the FIC model ministers to the family not programs
- Elder led
- True deacon ministry – ministering to families
- Equipping fathers to disciple their children
- Honoring biblical manhood and womanhood
