There are many times when one does not understand the workings of the Lord. We can “chalk” it up as human nature but it is really a lack of faith in a sovereign God. This year has started out as one that will be remembered years down the road. I can see me and my wife sitting on the porch recalling the despair that we felt, yet able to say that the kind hand of God was in our life.
The year actually ended with me stepping down as pastor of the church we had been at for over seven years. Then came the news that I was being laid off to “part time” hours. I felt a lot like Moses did when he went to Pharaoh and he did not let them go, “And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou [so] evil entreated this people? why [is] it [that] thou hast sent me?” (Exodus 5:22)
Will God provide? Did he bring Moses to the edge of the Red Sea to let him die there? No! If God brought you to it, He will bring you through it. In all of this the Lord has put before us a reformation, starting a new church work. I don’t believe we would have seen the need if God had not brought us here.
I am a planner and I want to know what’s ahead. God has called me and I glory Him in that calling. He is not going to leave us nor forsake us. As the head of the family, I want my wife and children to see the trust in my life is not based upon secular powers or principals but the grace and sovereignty of God.
I have trusted Him in this call. My wife wrote a blog today worth reading.
